1962 – 2018
Passed peacefully away at home surrounded by his loving family after a six-and-a-half-year battle with cancer on December 11th, 2018, Robert James Hayes, aged 56 years. Predeceased by his father-in-law Michael Dinn, brother-in-law Ron Brewer and sister-in-law Daphne Hayes. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 30 years Jackie; children: Jennifer (Michael Ducey), Jessica (Chris Norris) and Adam (Sarah Power); parents Thomas and Marcella Hayes; mother-in-law Deedy Dinn; siblings: Tom (Judy), Betty Hayes-Brewer, Pat (Maude), Sue (Eric), Dave (Roseanne), Jack, Chris, Steve, Deb (Billy Scott) and Rose (Doug Parkinson); siblings-in-law: Mike Dinn (Diane), Darlene Newell (Bill), Andy Dinn (Isabel Turner), Steve Dinn (Peggy Whitten), Danny Dinn (Bobby); and a large circle of nieces and nephews. As an esteemed member of Newfoundland Antique and Classic Car Club, he had a contagious sense of humour and fought until the very end. A special thanks to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre, especially Dr. Melanie Seal and Dr. Noreen Fardy for being there throughout his illness. A special thank you to all the family who stood by his side, especially in his final hours. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, December 13th, 2018 and Friday, December 14th, 2018 from 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 15th, 2018 at 10 a.m from St. Kevin’s Church, Goulds, with inurnment to follow in the parish cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
