Colleen Ann (McGean) BROWN

Colleen Ann (McGean) BROWN

Date de décès : 25 décembre 2018

It is with heart felt sorrow that we regret to announce the passing of our Dearest Mother Colleen on Christmas Day at the Northside General Hospital surrounded by her loving daughters and family. Chi, Cher and Jillian were the love of her life and Colleen was their everything. Their mother-daughter bond was unbreakable and the everlasting love for her girls knew no bounds. Colleen’s six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Brydon, Tristan, Brady, Nadia, Alexander, Charlotte and Jacob were very dear to her and she was always very active in their lives and the activities that they were involved in. Colleen’s first grandson, Brydon, held a special place within her life as did Darryl (Brydon’s Dad) who Colleen thought of as the son she never had.
Although death is sad, it was a beautiful moment to witness such strength, courage and deep faith that our mother displayed during the time of her health challenges. Our mother only wanted the best for her children and their families and even up to her passing; she continued to express her desire for us to have a happy life.
Colleen was born March 31, 1952 in Sydney Mines to the Late Howard and Francis (Hoskins) McGean, one of five sisters and five brothers. Our mother is survived by her three daughters, Chi (Jimmy), Cher (Darryl) and Jillian (Marc). Colleen is also survived by her sisters, Estelle, Heather, Rachael (Dave), Sharon (Gordie), and brothers, Jack, Gerard (Leona), Brian (Rayeanne), also sister-in-law, Maureen. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Colleen was predeceased by brothers, Basil and Kevin; nephew, Kevin, as well as sister and brother-in-laws, Neila and Norman. Colleen was also predeceased by the father of her girls, William (Buck) Brown (December 10, 2018).
Colleen was employed with the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for 33 years as an OT, retiring in 2009. Our mother had a very active retirement with traveling with her girls and sisters. Her special moments were spending time at the beach.
The family would like to take this opportunity to express our sincerest gratitude to the Nursing Staff of the Northside General Hospital (Five East and Four West).
Thank you to Dr. Kohlsmith, from the bottom of our hearts for your professional and excellent care that was provided. Words could never express our sincere appreciation for the compassion shown our Mother as well as to the family through our most difficult time.
Visitation for Colleen will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, NS.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Holy Family Parish Church, Main St., Sydney Mines, NS with Fr. James Oliver officiating.
Interment to take place at a later date.
Online condolences may be made to www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
