It is with great sadness that the family of the late GEORGE MATCHEM of Fortune announces his passing at The Blue Crest Home in Grand Bank on Friday May 20, 2011 at the age of 91. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are Wife Alvena of 20 years; Sons Winston (Shirley) of Fortune and Robert of Fortune; Daughter Alice Matchem (Felix Robere) of Fortune; Stepsons Rodney (Una) of Jeffrey’s, Isaac (Cavelle) of Jeffrey’s, and Danny (Joyce) of Fort MacMurray; Stepdaughters Kathy (Johnny) of Jeffrey’s, Donica (Brian) of Jeffrey’s, and Myra (Richard) of Jeffrey’s; Sisters Gladys Gillam of Stephenville and Elizabeth Harvey of Corner Brook; 6 Grandchildren; 9 Great-Grandchildren; plus a large circle of family and friends. Pre-deceased by First Wife Elizabeth Jane. Funeral Service took place on Monday May 23, 2011 at 2:00pm from The Salvation Army Church in Fortune. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Fortune. In George’s memory, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice or flowers gratefully accepted.
