Alberto Bruce Wareham

Date de naissance : 3 août 1943

Date de décès : 4 janvier 2019

Bruce Wareham, aged 75 years, passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care unit at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial hospital on Friday, January 4, 2019. Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Irene. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Hilda, of 50 years; son Alberto (Kim), son Ken, grandsons Ryan, Brent and Cole, sister-in-law Gwen (Wes), nephew Corey, and a large circle of family and friends. Per Bruce’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, private burial for immediate family to follow. Bruce Wareham, well-known and well-respected pioneer in Canada’s seafood industry, passed away after a brief battle with cancer. While his career brought him to many countries around the world, his greatest commitment remained to the town, plant and people of Arnold’s Cove. Bruce often modestly attributed the success he experienced in life to the people of Arnold’s Cove. This commitment was the driving force behind Bruce’s decision in 2004, at the age of 61, to form the Icewater Group of Companies. Bruce’s hard work, determination and vision not only kept a groundfish processing plant open in Arnold’s Cove, but built it into a successful operation with a worldwide reputation for quality. Bruce remained passionate and optimistic about the future of the fishing industry in Newfoundland and Labrador until his passing and will be remembered as a man of his word and a true gentleman. The family would like to thank Dr. Sarah Small, the nurses of the Palliative Care unit and a special Thank You to Dr. Peter Noel. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to the Clarenville SPCA or the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital. Bruce was a simple man with a big heart.
