It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna Doucette on January 16, 2019 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Boston, Mass, Donna was the daughter of the late Martha Doucette. She was a member of the Holy Family parish, Eskasoni.
She was a worker at the Eskasoni Foodland for many years and will be missed by all co-workers. Donna enjoyed reading, hiking, camping, playing cards and bingo. She loved her pets: dog, Muin and cat, Jujij, but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Donna is survived by lifetime partner, David Marshall of Eskasoni; daughter, Khrishna (Jeff) of Reserve Mines; sons, John Robert (Fran) of Wagmatcook and Thomas Jay of Eskasoni; stepdaughter, Fallon Joe of Eskasoni; grandchildren, Brady Googoo, Shealynn Googoo, Sarah Googoo, all of Wagmatcook, Rekae Dennis of Eskasoni; unborn granddaughter, Joslyn Summerell of Reserve Mines; brother, John Doucette of Eskasoni; godchildren, Katelyn Paul and Martha Prosper; best friend, Connie Francis, cousins, Linda Edmands and Carol Davenport along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by son, Basil Broderick Paul; daughter in infancy, Sarah Jane Doucette; grandmother, Sarah Wood and godparents, Margaret Francis and Ralph Julian.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, January 24 at 7 p.m. at the Gabriel Centre, Eskasoni.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Eskasoni with Fr. Martin MacDougall officiating.
