The death occurred at the Palliative Care Unit of the Community Hospital, O'Leary, on Saturday, January 19, 2019, with her family by her side, of Marion Sophie Donald, beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Donald, of Montrose, age 87 years. Born at Alma, P.E.I., on August 16, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John Harry and Rachael Marion (nee Hardy) Barbour. Dear mother to Della (Dennis) Rix of St. Lawrence and Darrell (Tracy) Donald of Montrose. Cherished grandmother to Taylor Donald, Sophie Rix, Jenna Rix and Jake Rix (Katherine). Dear sister to Wanda Matthews (George Richard) of Alberton. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces, cousins, and by her many friends and acquaintances. She was predeceased by siblings, Waldron (late Daisy), Eldon (late Olive), Sterling (late Margaret), and Elmer (late Ethel). She was also predeceased by a brother-in-law, Basil Matthews. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton. Visiting hours Wednesday, January 23rd from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Thursday morning, January 24th from the E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel for funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Lynn McKinnon officiating. Interment later in the Montrose United Church Cemetery.
