It is with great sadness the family of Cecilia Frances Phyllis Carter announce her passing in the University Hospital in Edmonton, AB, on Dec. 28, 2018. Cecelia was born on May 25, 1928 to Peter and Katerina Lysak near Wakaw, SK. She grew up on the farm, along with her sisters until she moved to Prince Albert to attend Business College. She then moved on to a secretarial career, working for various firms in P.A., including Fayerman Bros., and Dawley Lumber Co. before acquiring a position at the Federal Penitentiary as secretary to the Warden, being the first woman to work within the walls of the Penitentiary service in Western Canada. She held this position for two years before moving to Ont. She eventually moved to West Coast living in New Westminster and Burnaby. In 1970, she married Vaughn Carter. Upon retirement they moved to Princeton, BC. After his passing in 1996, she relocated to Spruce Grove, AB, where she gave tirelessly of herself at many volunteer positions. She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters. She is survived by sister Stella Sinclair (Spruce Grove, AB) and Annie Herchak (P.A., SK), and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
