It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear loved one on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, Douglas J. Osmond, age 92 years. Douglas served as a Salvation Army bandsman for 80 years. He worked diligently for over 40 years in the furniture industry where he started his family business, Osmond’s Furniture in 1972. Predeceased by parents Nathan and Lucretia; brothers Bert, Bill, Nathan; sisters Josie, Mayme, Myrtle and Nina; son Raymond. Leaving to mourn his wife Phoebe (Cofield) of 67 years; son Douglas (Barbara); daughters Lynn (Rev. Jonathan Dent), Marcie (Reg Milley), Libby (David Guy) and Krista (Doug Vincent); daughter-in-law Rachel; grandchildren Kim, Christopher (Kim), Alexandra (Bradley), Stacy (Teti), Catherine (Lyle), Kent (Sheena), Matthew (Heather), Michael, Laura (Brandon), Samantha, Alicia, Amy (Ryan), Emma; great-grandchildren Crystal, Meredith, Kate, Samuel, and Norah; great-great-grandchild Jackson; sister-in-law Marcie Stacey; also leaving to mourn niece Shirley and her husband Lo Hindy; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue with visitations on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm. Celebration of life service to be held from the Salvation Army Citadel Adam’s Avenue on Friday, March 8 at 2:30pm. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dave and Dennis, Douglas’ homecare workers for their care and compassion, Dr. Gary Rideout for his exceptional care & to niece Dottie for Monday afternoon bowling trips. In lieu of flowers, donations in Douglas’ memory may be made to the Salvation Army Citadel Band or the Kidney Foundation.
