Alvire “Vera” Gallant passed away peacefully with family by her side after a short stay at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on Monday, March 4, 2019, aged 83. Born and raised in “The Crick” in North Rustico, Vera was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Clara (Gallant) Gallant. She spent most of her working life in Ontario, retiring back home in the 1990's. She will be missed by brother, Wally Gallant (Pat); and sisters, Clara “Ducky” Gallant and Grace “Nunny” Lamb; along with numerous nieces and nephews, especially Dolores Steele. Besides her parents, Vera was predeceased by her brother, Alvin Gallant; sisters, Guelda Cogger, Jean Gallant and Hazel LeClair; half brothers and sisters, Francis Gallant, Leo Gallant, Rita O’Connor, Marie Peters and Mary Gallant; and niece, Cindy Hughes. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Friday, March 8, 2019, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico, on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Stella Maris Cemetery at a later date.
