The passing of John “Wayne” Veno occurred on February 17th, 2019 at Civic Hospital in Brampton, Ontario. Wayne was born in Miscouche Prince Edward Island on September 16, 1944, the son of George and Gertrude Veno. He graduated from Miscouche High School and spent his entire working life in Brampton, Ont. where he worked as a millwright by trade for 47 years at then Dixie Cup now Georgia Pacific of Canada. He was always a big fan of horse racing and loved coming to PEI every summer for Old Home Week. He is survived by his sister Geralda (Murray) Swan, his partner of many years Martha Oporto, her sons Alfonso and Ignacio, and many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Elgin (Theresa), Chuck (Nan) and sisters Nova (Cyril) Walsh and Shirley (Harris) Johnston. There will be no visitation by request and cremation has taken place with a memorial service later in Prince Edward Island. A special thanks to Martha and her sons, nephew Mike, and friends Nora, Kathy and Helen for their assistance and compassion during his illness.
