With broken hearts we announce the passing of Neil Marcel MacDonald on March 8, 2019. He was where he wished to be, at home with his family by his side.
Born in Sydney on January 13, 1953, Neil lived in Cape Breton all of his life. He loved his childhood summers spent at his grandparents’ home in Grand Etang, to his adult life in Ingonish to raising his family in Coxheath.
Neil was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son. His true love for people, his wonderful sense of humor and eagerness to help all he met created an enormous circle of friends, who he treasured. He also took great pleasure in preparing feasts for family and friends to share.
He will be dearly missed by Irma (nee Amey), his wife of 33 years; and daughters, Amey MacDonald and Sherri MacDonald. Neil is also survived by his mother, Emerise (Cormier) MacDonald; brothers, Bernie (Leona) MacDonald and Jamie (Lisa) MacDonald; sisters, Cecelia McDonald and Jessie MacDonald, and nephews and nieces.
Neil was predeceased by his father, John B. MacDonald; brother, Jerry MacDonald and brother-in-law, Ivan Butcher.
A visitation will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, March 15, 2019 from 7-9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 16, 2019 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Thomas Whent presiding. A reception will follow.
