Lewis "Lew" Champion

The death occurred peacefully on Friday, March 8th, 2019 of Lewis “Lew” Champion, aged 77 years with his loving wife Mary (Praught) Champion at his side. Lew was a man of many talents he worked at many jobs as a young man. Then became a postman and the postmaster at Montague, P.E.I. and Kensington, P.E.I. his birthplace where he had to retire at a young age due to health issues. He truly loved PEI and its music you could see him at the Summerside Legion Kitchen Party’s on Saturdays, he was an avid volunteer with meals on Wheels. But his passion was Special Olympians in which he took a keen interest in and made many Life Long Friends with the boys and girls, who will miss him dearly. Lew was born in Kensington to his late parents Ben and Helen (Larkin) Champion, his mother died when he was very young, so his grandmother took over raising him and his brother Gary. He leaves to mourn his wife Mary of 54 years, brother Gary, niece Leah (Leon), great niece Josie, sister’s in-law Louise DesRoche (Ronnie deceased), Sandra (David) Arsenault and Sylvia (Bruce) Cole. Predeceased by his parents, step mother Joyce Heechen, his grandmother Rebecca “Becky” Champion and his brother in-law Joey Court. Lew will Be Sadly Missed. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Tuesday, March 12th, 2019 where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m. Interment to take place in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at a later date. Memorial donations in Lew memory to Special Olympics would be greatly appreciated.
