COTTREAU, John Lawrence – 58, of Yarmouth passed away March 14, 2019 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his family by his side after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Yarmouth on December 12, 1960 he was a son to the late John L and Elizabeth M Cottreau. John loved his family and watching his nieces and nephews grow up. He was a kind soul with a big heart who was always smiling and willing to help those around him. John was an all-around sports athlete though his school years and won many awards. Being physically fit followed him into his adult years where he enjoyed running, swimming and floor hockey. He also enjoyed wrestling and watching sports always cheering for the Toronto Blue Jays. His working career consisted of over 24 years at Harris Seafood and The Quick and Tasty. In his spare time John was known to be quite the card player, always playing to win! He is survived by his siblings, Tim (April Dawn) Cottreau, Woods Harbour; David (Lynn) Cottreau, South Ohio; Laura (Shawn) Pitman, Pleasant Lake; nieces, Chelsea Cottreau and Bailey Pitman; nephews, Cody Cottreau and Samuel Pitman. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A memorial service was held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2 P.M.from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Raymond Pitcher officiated. Interment will take place at a later date in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery with his parents. A reception followed the service at Temple Baptist Church Hall located at 5 Bond Street in Yarmouth. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to Second Chance Seniors Club.
