Doris Jean GOFF

Age 92, Truro, passed away on Thursday March 21, 2019, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, following a brief illness. Born in Onslow Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Nettie (Deyarmond) Whidden. Her husband of 64 years, Everill, passed away in October 2018. Doris is survived by her sons, Murray (Wendy Lockhart), Moncton, New Brunswick; Douglas (Michelle Secord), Guelph, Ontario; granddaughters, Allison and Lindsay; grandsons, John and Drew; brother, Foster Whidden (late Frances), Bible Hill and several nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Roy (Eva) and Gordon (Elsie). She and Everill lived in Riverview, New Brunswick from 1960-1975, and apart from that, she lived in the Truro area the rest of her life. She was an active member at Saint Andrew’s United Church where she was a life member of the UCW and was recognized for knitting over 6600 dolls for overseas shipment. She was previously honored by the Colchester Regional Hospital Auxiliary for 35 years of volunteer service and was also formerly active with the Rebekah Lodge. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Saint Andrews United Church, 55 King Street, Truro, Keith Selwyn-Smith officiating. Reception will follow in the church hall. Private family interment in Gays River United Church Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Doris’ memory to Saint Andrew’s United Church, 55 King Street, Truro B2N 3K8 or a charity of choice are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
