Peter Allison Hebb - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Allison Hebb, age 74, of Amherst on Monday, April 29, 2019, with family by his side, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Bridgewater, N.S., Peter was the son of the late John and Anne (Allison) Hebb. Peter grew up in Windsor, N.S. where he attended public schools and later King’s College School, now King’s-Edgehill, as a day student. His first job was in the Yukon at a residential school as a caretaker. He returned home and began work on the gypsum boats out of Hantsport and travelled to many parts of Canada and the USA, also Mexico, Jamaica and Trinidad. He attended trade school in Halifax and studied to be an electrician. After a few years he went back to school to become a stationary engineer, working first in Pubnico at the fish plant before moving to Amherst to work at Sifto Salt in Nappan, N.S. until his retirement in 2005. Peter was very active in his community as a member of the Kidney Foundation, the Fella’s Choral Group, Christ Church Choir, Men’s Club, Wednesday Morning Bible Study and as an Amateur radio operator. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Treva (Crossman), stepchildren Brenda (Carter), Bob (Beth) of Amherst and Shelley (Keltie) of Moncton, sister, Jane Hartling of Hebbville, step grandchild Matthew Selig (Kelsey), step great grandchild Lincoln as well as several nieces. Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his brothers, Bill, in 1938 and John “David” in 2016. Following Peter’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral service was held on Thursday, May 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church in Amherst with the Rev. Charlotte Ross officiating and Rev. Natasha Pearen assisting. Interment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Peter’s memory to the Kidney Foundation, L.A. Animal Shelter or a charity of your choice.
