George Alexander Fudge, 82, Halifax, passed away on Feb. 23, 2011 after a heroic battle with cancer.
He served in Korea with the Royal Canadian Dragoons (Camp Petawawa). In 1957 he joined the 8th Canadian Hussars and served until 1966. George and family were stationed in Hemer, Germany from 1959 – 1963. He was a member of the Korea War Veterans Association.
George loved life and was very outgoing, enjoying skating, music, hockey, dancing, fishing, camping and cards. He had a great sense of humour that showed by the sparkle in his baby blue eyes.
George is survived by his children, Trudy Collette, Brian Fudge (Susan), Janet Daniels, Dawn Lester (Michael) and Kenny Fudge. George is also survived by his wife, Ada Fudge (Oldford) and sister, Olive Moustos (Teddy). He will be lovingly remembered by his many grandchildren and great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law, Connie and Lynne; many nieces and nephews. George will also be sadly missed by his special friend, Katherine Vincent.
George was predeceased by his parents, George W. Fudge (King) and Rachael (Morrison); sisters, Lillian Thompson, Sally Goustus and Alice Nickerson; brothers, Daniel and Watson; sons-in-law, Robert and Lee; brothers-in-law, James, Peter and Donald.
The family would like to thank the staff at Arborstone Enhanced Care for their professionalism and compassion, especially the 2nd floor Angels.
There was no funeral service held, as per George’s request. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Hardwood Hills Cemetery in Sydney, Cape Breton.
In lieu of flowers or cards, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
