JOHN (JACK) ALLEN DOUGLAS

JOHN (JACK) ALLEN DOUGLAS

Date de naissance : 24 février 1939

Lieu de décès : Whistler, Colombie Britannique, Canada
Date de décès : 17 juin 2011

Born: February 24, 1939
Passed away: June 17, 2011

John Allen Douglas, son of George and Vera Douglas passed quietly Friday, June 17th, 2011 in Whistler. Jack joins his wife of 27 years Dorothy, who passed earlier this spring.

Jack moved to British Columbia in the late 60's to escape the cold winter prairie and recounted many a time how little he missed crawling around "cold steel" at minus 40 degrees as a heavy duty mechanic. Very fond of sharing many stories working with Finning's for 30 years and the close friendships made with the Finning's family. An avid fisherman and outdoorsman, Jack was most fond of setting camp, getting a fire going and the ever present coffee mug. Jack was happiest assisting friends and neighbors "fixing" or sharing advice to repair just about anything, and highlighted the 20 years Dorothy and Jack lived at Heffley Lake as some of the best years. The past several years Jack and Dorothy lived their lifelong dream of travelling North America in their Coach, wintering in Arizona or Texas, and making several cross country trips across Canada in the summer season. A favorite destination was Newfoundland, the scenery, and Jack had a special fondness for the people they met in Newfoundland.

Jack is survived by his sisters Pat and Faye, brother Bob, sons Jim and Ron, daughter Kim, stepsons Brian and Grant, and their "town kids" Dale and Susy (Karen). Grandchildren include Crystal, Samantha, Brady, Simon, Jade and Raine.

At his request, no service is planned.
