Lieu de décès : Springdale, Terre-Neuve, Canada

The Salvation Army Citadel, Springdale, was filled with family and friends on Saturday, July 16, 2011 as they paid their final respects to the late Mabrey Winsor, devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mabrey passed peacefully away in the presence of his family, on July 9, 2011 at Green Bay Health Care Centre. He was 77 years old. Mabrey was born in Triton on September 17, 1933 to Wesley & Mary (Colbourne) Winsor. In 1951 he moved to Corner Brook where he met & married Veneita White on June 22, 1954 and together they raised 8 beautiful children. Mabrey adored his family and was happiest when the room was full and there was lots of laughter. He often referred to his sons and daughters as "his children" and the grandchildren as "Poppy's boy or girl".
Mabrey was well known as a community volunteer, in addition to his working career, setting a wonderful example for his family. The Town Council, Lions Club, Fire Department, Springdale Community Development Cooperative, District School Board, and various church groups were the beneficaries of his time and his wisdom. Next to his family, the church and community were very special.
Mabrey was predeceased by his parents, brothers Ralph & Neil and sister Ruth.
He leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories, his wife of 57 years Veneita, sons Garry (Barb), John (Deane), Dean (Nicole), Merrick (Jeanette), Danny (Denise), Ian (Michelle); daughters Carolyn (Lorne Pittman), Suzanne (Lloyd Budgell); 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, sister Fern (Frank Winsor); and a large number of other relatives and friends. The funeral service was conducted by Majors Robert and Cassie Kean with interment following at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Springdale. Pallbearers were his six sons Garry, John, Dean, Merrick, Danny & Ian. They were led by two of “Poppy's Boys” Master Seaman Richard Winsor and Leading Seaman Aaron Pittman of the Canadian Navy. Honorary pallbearer was Gerald Pelley, a good friend. Members of the Men's Ministries, Gideon's and Fire Department formed an honour guard to show their respect for this wonderful man.
Donations may be made to The Gideon's and/or The Alzheimer's Society.
