Karen Hines, a resident of Scotchtown, passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on July 23, 2011, with her loving family by her side.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of Raymond and Agnes (Reid) Hines.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her common-law husband, Joseph Kalbhenn; one son, Billy; two sisters, Brenda and Mary Beth; and her second family, Angie and Jessica Hiscock.
She was predeceased by one brother, Raymond Butch, and one sister, Sheila.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday at 10 a.m., with Rev. Jim Oliver officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Carmel Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
