McLAUGHLIN, RITA - Rita Hannorah McLaughlin (nee Cummings), 86, of Sussex Corner, passed away at home surrounded by her family on August 5, 2011. Born in Southfield, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (nee McGinnis) Cummings, and the wife of the late Hazen McLaughlin. Rita is survived by her children: Catherine Hourihan of Passekeag; Edward McLaughlin (Donna) of Poodiac; Veronica Smith (Alfred) of Poodiac; Barb McMackin (Joe) of Hammondvale; Michael McLaughlin (Irma) of Newline; Christine McLaughlin of Poodiac; Regina McLaughlin (Tony) of Sussex; Francis McLaughlin of Newline; her grandchildren: Rose, Monica, Lorraine, Melissa, Julie, Dawn Marie, Carson, Mary Gayle, Geb, Crystal, Colleen, Darren, John, Rebecca, Amy, Jason, Matthew, Kathleen, Jessica, Jarrod; 28 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and her sisters-in-law: Clara Stephens, Betty McLaughlin and Margaret McLaughlin. Besides her parents and husband, Rita was predeceased by a daughter in infancy; her son, James McLaughlin; her grandson, Patrick McLaughlin; her son-in-law, William Hourihan; her brothers: William, Sterling, Clarence, Leo, Howard, Medley, and Leslie; her sisters: Alice Carty, Elizabeth Ross, Lillian Hourihan, Bernice Cummings, Agnes Carty, Lulu Hourihan, and Ruby Hourihan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Sussex Select Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex. The funeral mass will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Norton on Monday at 10:00 am with Father Arnold Hachey officiating. Interment will take place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
