Normintreal Michelle “Minty” Paris, 94, of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Clara (Skinner) Jewell.
Minty worked at Bagnel’s Laundry before retiring from Pictou County Homemakers. She was a member of Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow where she served on the Finance Committee, Ladies Auxiliary, Social Committee and the Volunteer Hospital Visitation Committee. Minty was also an honorary member of the Men’s Brotherhood.
Minty is survived by daughter, Ida Woo Shue, Halifax; sons: Reuben “Ted” (Kelly), London, ON; Charles (Joanne), Toronto; Dale (Sandy), New Glasgow; sister, Sweedlyn Cromwell, New Glasgow; grandchildren: Kelli, Teresa, Lisa, Victoria, Melanie, Ryan, Sarah; great-grandchildren: Aidan, Isaiah, Isla Minty, Jaylen; sister-in-law, Florence, Toronto; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Minty’s husband Charles “Ian” Paris Sr. passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by son-in-law, Arnold Woo Shue; brothers: Filmore, Henderson, Hector, Coleman, Francis; sisters, Ida, Violet, Abullias and Thelma.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday in P & K MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow.
Donations may be made in memory of Minty to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
