SEWELL, HELEN HILDA - Passed away peacefully at Marshall Gowland Manor in Sarnia, Ontario on August 17, 2011 in her 100th year. Helen was born in Saint John, New Brunswick and was the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Herbert) Golding Small. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1977 and son Joseph in 1995. She is survived by three daughters; Betty Kirchmair (George), Jean Corey (Tip) and Margaret Millman (George), all of Sarnia, ON, and three sons, Ed Sewell (Carol) of Burlington, ON, Allen Sewell (Leona) of Grand Bay, NB, and Robert Sewell (Lucy) of Pokemouche, NB. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; Christine, George, Michael, Stephen, David, Margaret, Tammie, Ian, Shelly, Brian, Lisa, Catherine and Dominique and 17 great-grandchildren. Helen was also predeceased by a daughter-in-law Susan Sewell, two sisters, Edith Keary and Margaret Duke and four brothers, Herbert Golding Small, Donald Golding Small, Leo Rivers and Gerald Rivers and is survived by a sister-in-law Rhoda Rivers. Helen was a teacher, having graduated from the Provincial Normal School in Fredericton in 1930. She lived most of her life in Pokemouche, NB, but spent the past few years in Sarnia, ON. Helen was a wonderful mother and home maker who will be dearly missed by all.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father David Ferguson on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Pokemouche, NB with interment to follow at the Pokemouche Cemetery. A tree will be planted in memory of Helen Sewell in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest. Dedication service Sunday, September 18th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area.
