MR ERIK (HANS) HANSEN
1914 – 2009
Erik Hansen passed away peacefully at the Jubilee Lodge in Kinistino on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the age of 95 years. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 7 from Weldon Lutheran Church. Erik (Hans) Hansen was born February 4, 1914 in Redby Falster Lolland, Denmark, the youngest child to Ludvig and Ingrid (Jensen) Hansen. His younger years were spent on the farm where they lived in Denmark in the sugar beet fields where he worked for the Darkett family. Later he joined the army and served during the Second World War. In 1949 he came to Canada to visit his brother Evald and family. He discovered a great appreciation for Saskatchewan and in 1951 he moved to Canada to stay. He farmed along side his brother until his brother Evald passed away. Young children gave him great joy and what antics they didn’t know he was sure to teach them. In 1979 Erik moved into the Senior Housing in Weldon. He spent a few winters in Weslaco, Texas. In 2004 he took up residence in the Jubilee Lodge in Kinistino until his passing. Uncle Erik was survived by a niece in Denmark Ingrid Arnsberg-Nielsen; special niece June (Jack) Carrier and her children Ingrid (Myron) & Quinn Hadland; Ian (Aliya), Chelsey and Shania Carrier; Joel (Melissa), Josh and Jessica Carrier; a niece-in-law Merlene Hansen and children Marilee (Lynne), Colter and Madelyn Taylor; Aaron (Jennifer), Courtney and Kylee Hansen; Myles Hansen (Colleen Robertson) & Mark Hansen. He was predeceased by his parents Ludvig and Ingrid (Jensen) Hansen, brother Evald (Mildred Lauen) Hansen, sister Elsie (Willie) Arnsberg-Nielsen; two nephews Gerald and Lorne Hansen. Interment of cremated remains will take place at Weldon Lutheran Cemetery. It is the family’s request that donation be made to Jubilee Lodge, Weldon Lutheran Church or a charity of donor’s choice.
