George passed away suddenly on Aug. 2, 2011, in Springdale, N.L.
Born in Kudakkachira, India, he was the son of John (deceased) and Aleyamma Theruvappuzha.
At an early age the family moved to Kerala where he began his early education. George obtained his B.Ph. 1976, from Janana-Deepa Vidyapeeth, BA in Psychology from the University of Poona, 1979, and his B.Th 1983 from Janana-Deepa Vidyapeeth. He obtained his B.S.W from Dalhousie University in 2006. At the time of his death he was pursuing his M. S.W from Memorial University, N.L.
George was employed with Department of Child, Youth and Family Services, in Springdale, N.L. He was a generous man and always ready to help those less fortunate. He was an avid gardener and loved to play tennis.
George is survived by his wife, Anita (Driscoll); his mother, Aleyamma; sisters, Mary, Aleyamma, Rosamma; brothers, Joseph, John, Raju, Sonny, Robert, Kutan, all living in Kerla, India; and many nieces and nephews in India. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Sheilah (David) Cronkite, New Glasgow; brother-in- law, Jim (Josephine) Driscoll, Ben Eoin.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of George’s life for family and friends will occur 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay, Fr. Stanley MacDonald presiding. Interment will be at a later date in St Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
