George Bishop

(February 3, 1954 - September 10, 2011). Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family at the Palliative Care Unit at Carbonear General Hospital, George Bishop, age 57 of Upper Island Cove. Predeceased by father Heber Allan Bishop and father-in-law Ralph McCarthy. Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Cecilia Bishop and three daughters: Stephanie, Jennifer (Jeremy) Yetman and Lindsey; two grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Emma and Owen Yetman; mother Jeannette Bishop; sister Dorothy (Randy) Hunt; brothers: Robert (Sharon) Bishop and Claude (Julie-ann French) Bishop. As well as many nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts and an extended circle of family and friends. Thank you to Drs. Greenland, Ahmad, Mann and O'Shea and all the compassionate and caring staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre as well as the Board of Directors and Staff of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation. Much appreciation to the staff of St. Clare's Mercy Hospital and the nursing staff of both 4NA and 5SB at the Health Sciences Centre. A sincere heartfelt thanks to Dr. G. Howse and the nursing staff at the Carbonear General Hospital – the level of comfort provided by each of you will never be forgotten. Appreciation goes out to: Reverend John Courage; Reverend Bill Strong; Reverend Gregory Mercer; Reverend Arch Young; Masonic Lodge, Bay Roberts; Coworkers of Come By Chance and Long Harbour; Local 579 Carpenters and Millwright Union; all who have visited, called, provided food, sent flowers and well wishes – your overwhelming support will forever and always be remembered. Resting at Hussey's Funeral Home, Upper Island Cove. Visitation begins September 13 at 10:00 a.m. Funeral service to take place at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Upper Island Cove on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Bishop Family or to the Patient and Family Support Fund of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
