Edna Blackmer

Lieu de naissance : Weyburn, Canada

Date de décès : 19 septembre 2011

BLACKMER - Edna After fighting a long illness with great tenacity and even greater courage, Edna left to continue her journey on September 19, 2011. Edna was born in Weyburn, SK to Elizabeth and James Coltart, the youngest of six children. As a loving, generous, and kind woman, she spent her life helping others. She worked for many years as a nurse’s aide in hospitals and care facilities throughout SK, AB, and BC. Edna loved to have company. The coffee pot was always on and you never left hungry. She was genuinely interested in people, a good listener and being well read, could talk about a variety of topics. Her passions included cooking, baking, sports, entertaining, gardening, reading with an interest in local and world news. Edna loved nature and enjoyed bird watching, waiting with anticipation each spring for the hummingbirds to return. She will be missed by many and her loss will be deeply felt by her daughter Connie (David); stepson Allan (Geri); grandchildren: Jalene (Matt), Shantel (Darcy), Kaitlyn, Aaron, and Renee; and great grandchildren: Celyn, Tara, Kaitlyn and Isla. Her adopted family: Wes, Bonnie, Arlee and Dustin, friends: Kip, Mieke, Glenys, Ralph, Doreen, Jo, Willie, Donna, and Graham, will also miss Edna’s caustic wit, kindness and love. Gone before her, are her husband Arnold, her son Michael, and recently, her brother-in-law Jim Blackmer and sister-in-law Bernice Greip. Edna’s family would also like to thank the staff at the F.W. Green Home. They are very grateful for the competency, compassion, love and laughter shared with their mom. Staff did many extra things for Edna and spent quality time caring for her. She left this world in peace and dignity, which was in no small part, due to their thoughtful and respectful care. A celebration of life for Edna was held on Monday, September 26th, 2011 at the McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook (2200 - 2nd Street South) at 11:00 am. Visitation was from 9:30 am - 10:30 am, on Monday, prior to the service.
