Sylvia Eva Pearce of St. Thomas, and formerly of Sydney, N.S., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Fred and Gertrude Rossiter of Sydney.
Beloved wife of the late Campbell Pearce. Dearly loved mother of Pamela and Chuck Cook of St. Thomas and Margaret and Kevin Marr of Tillsonburg. Brothers Harold and his wife Maryilyn Sundridge and Carl and his wife Joan of Peterborough. Sister-in-law, Marilyn Rossiter of Belmont and sister-in-law, Jean and her husband, Hugh Cumming of Warrington, England. Sylvia will be sadly missed by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters, Lydia and Marjorie; brothers, Max, Wilfred, Sid, Raymond and Herbie.
Sadly missed by her four legged family of Dylan, Phoebe and Stanley.
Sylvia lived most of her life in Sydney, except for the first eight years of her marriage, when they lived in Edinburg, Scotland and then they moved back to Sydney. In 1990 they moved to St. Thomas. She was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church and was active in the pie making group, as well as catering banquets, weddings and funerals. Sylvia was in the fashion business in her younger years and maintained an interest throughout her life.
The funeral service to celebrate Sylvia’s life will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, St. Thomas on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at 2 p.m. Visitation at the church on Saturday from 12-2 p.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Scott Rossiter Memorial Fund.
