Mary Kathleen (Kaye) Berggren, age 65, passed away on October 2nd, 2011 from Cancer at her home in Dawson Creek, BC.
Kaye was born in Innisfail Alberta to William and Grace Mewha. She was the middle child with one older sister, Priscilla Popilchak and a younger brother Don Mewha. Kaye married Larry Berggren in October of 1972 and had two children, Karen (Berggren) Ward and Allan Berggren. Kaye worked for years at the Bank of Montreal and had many fun times and adventures with her co-workers and friends there. Kaye was active in the crafting community in Dawson Creek and spent many years attending craft sales in and around the Dawson Creek area. Kaye had many wonderful friends in the community and throughout the country. She always had a gift of making people laugh and smile. This past year Kaye participated in the Relay for Life and had a fabulous time in her poodle skirt and cardboard Cadillac.
Kaye is survived by her husband Larry Berggren, children, Karen Ward and Allan Berggren ( and spouse Natalia Berggren), grand children Braydon Berggren and Emma Ward, her sister Priscilla Popilchak and brother, Don Mewha (and spouse Ivy Mewha). Kaye is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends that she always considered to be like family.
A tea and celebration of life was held at the Dawson Creek Senior’s hall at 2pm on Saturday, October 8th, 2011. Should anyone want to make a donation in Kaye’s name, Kaye has chosen the Dawson Creek Cancer Unit to be the recipient.
The family would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of support over this difficult time. Kaye bravely battled cancer for two years without complaint. She was an inspiration to all of us and will be greatly missed.
