It is with great sadness the family announce the sudden passing of Dougie at his residence, 285 High St., Apt. B, Sydney on Oct. 21, 2011.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Murdock and Priscilla (MacEachern) Deveaux. Dougie was a gentle soul and a private man, an avid baseball fan, he enjoyed the horse races, his computer and most of all the daily trips he and his wife made to MacDonald’s Restaurant for coffee. He also enjoyed long drives. Dougie at one time worked in construction.
He is survived by his beloved wife and friend, Harriet (Currie); stepchildren, Gerard, Paul (Karen) and Kenneth Fraser and Shauna (Fraser) (Shannon) Gatza; grandchildren, Courtney, and Danae (who was very close to him) and her pet dog Harley.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by brother, John; grandparents, Mary and Archie MacEachern.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass to celebrate Douglas’s life will take place on Friday, Jan. 6, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave., with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating and burial to follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
