Joseph Melvin McNeil, 82, of London, Ontario passed away peacefully at Parkwood Hospital on November 4, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (MacDonald) McNeil.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Josie McNeil (2010), loving father of Charles, Stephen (Cathy), Ian and Chris. Dear grandfather of eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Melvin is survived by his sisters Mildred MacIntosh, Glace Bay and Renee Farnham, Hamilton, Ontario. He is also survived by his brothers Ignatious, Hamilton, Ontario, Leo (Marge), Glace Bay, Jerome, Mira Gut, Gerald (Brenda), Mira Gut, Michael (Florence), Coxheath, and Jerry (Terri-Lynn), Reserve Mines.
Besides his parents, Melvin was also predeceased by his brothers Cecil and Charles, as well as sisters Johnina and Katie (in infancy).
Melvin was a distinguished member of the Canadian Armed Forces and served with the Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR). He served in the Korean War and was a parachutist with the RCR.
A funeral service and internment was held in London, Ontario on November 8, 2011.
