Eileen Clarkin, CND (Sister St. Peter)

Passed away at the Infirmerie Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours on November 13, 2011.
She was the daughter of the late Peter Clarkin and the late Sarah Egan of Emyvale, P.E.I. Two brothers, Leo and John, predeceased her. She leaves to mourn her CND sisters and her sister, Clara McQuaid of Toronto, and many cherished nephews and nieces and cousins.
Sister began her teaching career in Providence Rhode Island and then went back to P.E.I. to teach at Notre Dame Convent in Charlottetown. During her 66 years of religious life Sister touched the lives of many young people. In 1959 she was asked to be part of the community formation team, first in Montreal and then in Ottawa. From 1968-1981 she taught theology at Marianopolis College and following this, Sister Eileen served in community administration on both the local and provincial levels. She was involved in retreat ministry at Villa Marguerite in Pierrefonds and also in the Montreal Directed Retreats. Sister retired in 2002 and was transferred to the Infirmerie Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours in January 2009.
The wake will be held at the Salle Marguerite Bourgeoys, 5017 Notre Dame de Grace Avenue on Thursday, November 17, from 7-9 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m. The mass of resurrection will be celebrated at St. Monica Church, 6405 Terrebonne Avenue, Montreal at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 18. Burial will take place in Cote des Neiges Cemetery.
