John Raymond Usher, 46, of Stewiacke, passed away Nov. 23, 2011 in the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax.
John Raymond Usher was born and raised May 16, 1965 in South Bar, Cape Breton, N.S. He joined the Canadian Forces Sept. 1987. He completed basic training in Cornwalis, N.S. and served in Kingston, Ont., Shilo, Man., Debert, N.S., Gagetown, N.B., Goland Heights, Israel, with his last posting being Great Village, N.S. He served 24 years in the military in the signals division. He was a devoted and loving husband and father as well as an excellent provider to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Marie Usher; sons, John Matthew, Ethan Alexander, Adam Anthony, Jonathan Lucas and daughter, Rebecca Lynn Usher all at home. Also survived by his parents, Nickolas and June Usher from Victoria Mines, Cape Breton; sisters, Rosemary Usher, London, Ont., Darlene Aucoin, Lethbridge, Alta.; brother, David Usher, London, Ont.; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Dickson, Mira, N.S.; many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 from 2-3 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the same location.
Due to allergies within the family, it is requested that the services be scent free.
