Oliver Herbert Burt of Fairbanks, New World, Nfld., Sept. 28, 1937, to Dec. 2, 2011, age 74 years, passed away peacefully Dec. 2 in James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander. Oliver worked for Abitibi for 30 years. Along with his son Dave, he owned and operated Burt’s Forest Improvements at Bear River, for 13 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Adolphus and Lucy Burt; sisters, Florence, Jessie and Violet; brothers, Harvey and Hedley. Left to mourn are wife, Mary; sons, David (Sherry), Brad (Sabine), Rick (Elizabeth), and Peter (Lynn); daughters, Gloria (Lawrence) and Mottie (Perry); sister, Marie Gidge; brother, Aubrey; 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a very large circle of other family and friends. Lieutenants Chris and Tonia Street officiated at the funeral service at Eastside Citadel, Fairbanks, on Dec. 6. Interment in the Salvation Army Cemetery, Fairbanks.
