It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret MacLeod (nee Penney) on Thursday Nov. 19, 2009 at the Glace Bay Hospital. After a short battle with cancer, Margaret passed away surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, she is the daughter of Kate (MacDonald) Penney and the late Michael Penney.
Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Marg is survived by her husband of 36 years, Bill; sons Troy (Allison) and Jason (Glenda); grandchildren (the love of her life) Hailey, Avery, and Quinn. Marg is also survived by her mother Kate Penney; sisters Yvonne McInnis, Gail (Gerry) Rogers, Brenda (Kent) Groves; brothers Wayne (Phyllis) and Brian (Anne); and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her father, Marg was predeceased by a brother Michael in infancy.
Margaret will be sadly missed by her many friends and her family.
As per Margaret’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m., November 21, 2009 in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Martha MacDonald, C.D.M. officiating. Interment at a later date in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Palliative Care Unit.
