Martha Alexandra Turner (nee Hystad)
November 26, 1914 – January 5, 2012

The teacher may be gone but through the students the music will never stop. Martha passed away peacefully at the Eston Health Centre on Thursday morning, January 5. Martha was born at Hazlet to Alida and Halvor Hystad, and attended school in Neoshoe and Outlook. Martha married Fred Turner in 1937 and they lived at Lacadena; in 1939 they had a son, Wayne. She studied piano with Mrs. Proud at Lacadena and with Mr. Lyle Gustin in Saskatoon and for many years she taught piano and accompanied and directed church choirs at Lacadena and Horse Butte. Music was very important to Martha; she had numerous piano students over the years and she was always involved in the local music festivals, especially the Eston Music Festival at which many of her students performed. Martha was predeceased by her husband Fred, their son Wayne, a granddaughter, Susan and her brother-in-law Ellert Dyrland. She is survived by her sister Selma Dyrland, her daughter-in-law Kay Turner, one granddaughter, Janette, three grandsons, Bob (Anne-Marie), Bryce and Mark, two great grandsons, Michael and Noah, and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 10, at the Horse Butte Lutheran Church followed by a reception at the Lacadena hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider paying for a child's next piano lesson.
