Wallace ‘Wally’, 80, Lantz, formerly of Sydney Mines, passed away peacefully January 12, 2012 at home with his son Al and Al’s partner, Brent, by his side.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late Carl and Helen (Donovan) Morgan.
He retired from the Civil Service after 37 years. Wally was very involved in the Church, the Knights of Columbus and the choir both in Sydney Mines and Enfield. Wally was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was actively involved in the Lion’s Club in Port Hawkesbury and the Pensioner’s Club in Sydney Mines. He especially enjoyed playing bingo. Wally loved camping at the Glenview Campground in Whycogamagh, where he cherished time spent with family and extended family.
He will be sadly missed by his son Alfred ‘Al’ Morgan (Brent Isenor), Lantz; daughters Juanita (Gerry) Carr, Geulph, Ontario, Jackie Wilson, Victoria, BC; grandchildren Gregory ‘Greg’ (Linelle) Greene, Kevin (Danielle) Greene, Stephen (Cynthia) Carr, Vickie Carr, Jennifer (Curtis) Gero, Jason Morgan; sisters Jean McGean, Yvonne Serroule; brothers Clarence Morgan and Carl Morgan; sister -in-law Kathy ‘Mary’ (Wally) Aitkens; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years Dorothy (Drover) Morgan; oldest daughter Monica Greene and youngest daughter Louise Morgan; son-in-law Greg Greene; sisters Eileen Gerrow, Mildred Young, Blanche Whitty, Eunice McGean. Visitation 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., Friday in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., Sunday in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. Funeral service 2 p.m., Monday, in Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, Father Thomas John officiating with a service to follow in the sentenial room.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. The family’s gratitude goes out to the VON, Home Support workers, Nurses and the Palliative Care team.
