Wilfried "Wilf" Venherm

Lieu de décès : Vancouver, Colombie Britannique, Canada
Date de décès : 4 janvier 2012

72, died suddenly in Vancouver on January 4th, 2012. Born in Rheda, Germany, November 14th, 1939, he was the second of five children. Trained as a radio and television technician, he moved from Germany to St. John’s, Newfoundland. There he found his true home, his diamond in the rough, The Rock. While Newfoundland held his heart, the milder climes of Vancouver captured the rest of him 36 years ago. Wilf lived his life to the fullest. Good humour and laughter came as easily to him as friendship. His genuine nature connected him to young and old. Always a man of diverse interests, his passion for sailing kept him close to the water and his love of precision German Engineering allowed him to enjoy the ground with some low-level flying! Autobahn, anyone? He shared his thoughtful opinions and experiences over good food and wine. Travel enhanced his life and exposed him to another love, art. For 31 years he built his business, Framagraphic Frame Shop and Gallery, in Vancouver. Loyal customers appreciated his exacting nature and precise attention to detail. Their experience was enhanced by his eye for beauty and outstanding customer service. He also received fulfillment by generously mentoring many, opening his home and his wallet to allow others to grow and guiding those who needed it. His influence continues. After retirement he sought warmth in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico during the winters. Newfoundland often drew him eastward to enjoy old friends, family, and many parties. Visits to Germany and Europe became more frequent. He relished the time he had to reconnect, rekindle, and rediscover. He is survived by his life partner, Beverley Rose, his two children, Steffi Schwartz of Scottsdale, Arizona, Martin Venherm of Glasgow, Scotland, and his grandchildren Paulina and Antonia Schwartz. His siblings are Hedda Zeitler of Dallas, Texas, Christa Wolf of Burdett, New York, and brothers Peter and Klaus in Germany. Wilf’s life was one of celebration and to celebrate.
