BUTLER, Dorothy Christine (née Lockwood) – Passed away peacefully January 7, 2012 in Saanichton, B.C., surrounded by loving family after a dignified and courageous 6 year battle with cancer. She was born on August 8, 1934 in Huddersfield, England. Christine is predeceased by her husband, Robert in 2009. She is survived by her brother, Don (Tess); her children, Timothy (Lynn), Lynne, Karen (Doug), Andrew (Samantha), Larry (Stephanie) and her grandchildren, Chelsea, Sean, Lauren, Ava, Joey, and Hannah. Christine left England after completing her B.A. in Fine Arts and her teaching certification at the University of Leeds and came to St. John's, Newfoundland, where she met and married Robert Stephen Butler. Together they lived a full and vibrant life in St. John's, Calgary, Edmonton and later retiring in North Saanich, BC. She was a talented and life-long artist, as well as an avid gardener. Every aspect of Christine's life was lived with elegance, grace, and quiet strength. She will be greatly missed. A private service will be held at Hatley Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Cancer Agency, 2410 Lee Avenue, Victoria, BC, V8R 6V5.
