It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Anastasia Lanaras, at the Northside General Hospital, on Sunday Jan. 15, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Born in Kalavrouza, Greece, she was the daughter of the late George and Vasiliki Kalavrouziotis.
Anastasia was self-employed, she was the operator and owner of Frank’s Pizzeria. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music, needlepoint and truly loved her gardening. She was a dedicated family person who will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband, George; son, Stavros Lanaras, Sydney; sister, Koula (Nick) Vihos, Glace Bay; brother, Phonse (Lula) Kalavrouziotis, Greece, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Nick.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at the St. Anargyree Greek Orthodox Church, Marconi Street, Glace Bay, with Rev. Theodore Efthamiadis officiating. Interment to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Donations may be made to the Dementia/Alzhiemers Association or the St. Anargyree Greek Orthodox Church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Estelle Cameron for her love, care and compassion toward Anastasia, Dr. Bernie MacIntosh and Dr. Mary Hutchinson, as well as the nurses and staff at the Northside Guest Home.
