John Patrick ‘Jackie’ Higgins passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late William ‘Bill’ and Matilda (Doucette) Higgins. Jackie worked in construction and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union, also was a member of the New Waterford Pensioner’s Club. Jackie leaves behind two brothers, Raymond (Helen), Bellville, Ont and Leonard (Anna), New Waterford and their children, Leon, Leonard Jr., Sandra and Donnie, as well as several grandnieces, nephews and cousins.
In complying with Jackie’s wishes there will be no visitation as direct cremation has taken place, under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford 862-7500 and a service will be held at a later date.
Donations may be made to the Anla Palliative Care Unit, C.B. Regional Hospital.
