It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Wilfred Bernard Odo, 61, of Westmount, on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, with his loving wife at his side.
Born in New Waterford on April 16, 1948, he was the son of Thomas ‘Duddie’ Odo and the late Theresa (Gillis) Odo. Wilfred worked for Chrysler Canada in Windsor, ON for 35 years before his retirement. While there he coached the baseball team ‘Heavy Metal’ for 10 years, he also like to play darts, and loved watching sports especially the Montreal Canadiens. Wilfred enjoyed listening to his rock and roll, traveling - especially if he could drive to where he was going. He was known for his humour and always telling jokes and making people laugh. He had a special spot for animals as well.
Wilfred leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife, Myrna (Oriet) Odo, Westmount; sons, Tommy (Melissa) Odo, Danny (Tracy) Odo, both of Sudbury, ON, Chris (Andrea) Gillis, Shawn (Jan) Gillis, both of Windsor, ON; brothers, John (Patsy) Dave (Darlene), William ‘Bam’ (Susan) Tommy (Shannon), all of New Waterford and Bobby Windsor, ON. Wilfred will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Alyssia, Harley, Amanda, Spencer, Emily, Shawn Michael, Sawyer, Thomas, and a special grandson, Cameron. His best friend ‘Spike’ his Chocolate Lab. As well as many nieces and nephews and many great friends.
Besides his mother, Theresa, he was also predeceased by his brother, Murdock.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place on Friday, Nov. 4, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Parish Church of St. Leonard’s New Waterford with Fr. Doug Mac Donald officiating. A luncheon will follow at the St. Agnes Hall on Convent Street, New Waterford, all are welcome.
