Margaret Sarah Willan died peacefully at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, Ontario during the evening of December 24, 2006. She was living with her son and his family in Kitchener. Margaret was a homemaker and had worked part time at Safeway in Kamloops for about 30 years, having moved with her parents and brothers from Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan in 1946. She was predeceased by her husband Frederick John Willan in 1991, the year of their fortieth wedding anniversary. In earlier years Margaret had been a Sunday School Superintendent in a branch work in Valleyview, a leader of Messengers, Explorers and very willing worker at Camp Grafton, the United Church camp on Magna Bay on the Big Shuswap. Then in later years she participated in the life of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, enjoying her work in the Women's Missionary Society. Other interests included involvement with the Order of Saint Luke, Canada Post Heritage Society to name a few. She is survived by her brothers, Ralph Horner (and Audrey) in Kamloops, and George Horner (and Maxine) in Vancouver and by her Willan brothers-in-law, George, Harold (and Helen), Dick and numerous nieces and nephews and by her son Ralph (and Eliza), her daughter, Donna Crosina in Quesnel and grandchildren, Justin Crosina, and Emily and Jonathan Willan. Reverend Harold Weist will conduct the funeral service in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 6th & Douglas St., on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow, Hillside Cemetery. If friends desire, donations to the Kidney Foundation or the M.S. Society or St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in memory or Margaret Willan, would be appreciated. Schoening Funeral Service in care of arrangements.
