YAMAMOTO, Hisakazu It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Hisakazu Yamamoto on December 29, 2006 in Kamloops, B.C. He fought a courageous battle with lung cancer and passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He will be greatly missed and remembered as a loving and thoughtful husband, father and grandfather by his wife, Makiko, daughters Hisami, Julie (Bill) Turley and June; grandchildren Tim, Frank, Bob and John. Hisakazu was born in Steveston, B.C. on November 9, 1921. During World War II he was interned in Angler, Ontario. After the war he returned to Japan and married in 1949. He returned to Canada in 1951. His new family joined him in Greenwood, B.C. in 1954 where he lived and worked until his retirement. Most of his retirement years were spent in Kamloops where he enjoyed gardening, spending time at the casino, watching baseball and sumo wrestling and volunteering at the Buddhist Church. The family would like to thank the caring doctors and staff at Royal Inland Hospital, Hospice House and Kelowna Cancer Clinic. We would also like to acknowledge the support and assistance of the Kamloops Buddhist Church. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kamloops Buddhist Church, 361 Poplar St. In lieu of flowers/koden, friends may make a donation in Hisakazu's memory to the BC Cancer Agency, 399 Royal Avenue., Kelowna, V1Y 5L3 or Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Cres.
