LANE, ARTHUR “ART” - 1922 – 2012 - It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Arthur Edward Lane on February 16, 2012, at the Veterans Health Care Centre in Moncton where he was receiving great care from a passionate group of Health providers since August 2011. Born in Malden, NB on June 30, 1922 he was the son of the late Tweed and Frances (Sweeney) Lane. From 1941 – 1945, Art served overseas with the Canadian Army in World War II. Art spent most of his working career with the Department of Natural Resources as a Ranger protecting the forests and wildlife. He also was a member of RCMP Auxiliary and paraded regularly with the Moncton Legion. After his retirement he started his second career as a locksmith (A.A. Locksmith) and tending his vegetable garden. He completed his 60 years of service to his country, province and community by delivering meals to Moncton Hospital patients until age 85. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy (Olsen) of Moncton and sons Edward (Moncton), Steven (Moncton) and Bill (Mary Ann) of Riverview; a sister, Shirley (Bill) Gobat of Panama City, granddaughters Sabrina Hatcher and Julie (Bill McRorie) and grandsons Andrew (Kathleen Alexander) and Bradley as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Cecil, Joe, Harold, Albert and Fred, sisters Marion and Florence. Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Tuesday, February 21 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm and a legion service commencing at 6:45 pm. Memorial service will be held at the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 22 at 2:00 pm followed by a reception in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
