CARMAN ALDRIDGE

CARMAN ALDRIDGE

CARMAN LEIGHTON ALDRIDGE
Carman passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at his home in Wascana Rehab in Regina. Carman was born on April 23, 1922 in Regina, SK. Early in his life he came to live with his mother and siblings on a farm north east of Moose Jaw. He left to join the air force as a young man. His love and passion was still in farming and he eventually made his way back to the farm. Carman met and married Gertrude Dubord on December 3, 1949. They would be married 61 years before Gertrude passed away in 2010. They lived and raised five children on the farm. The couple relocated to Moose Jaw in their later years, living on South Hill in that city. They were very blessed to have such wonderful neighbours in their Moose Jaw home. As their health failed, their neighbours often helped them out in countless ways. Our family will be forever grateful to them. We also wish to thank Donna and staff from Donna’s Compassionate Care in Moose Jaw. They provided years of caring support to Gertrude and Carman in their home. When Gertrude passed away in 2010, Carman’s health quickly declined. In his time without his wife, Carman was extremely lonely and talked about her endlessly. He eventually came to live at Wascana Rehab in Regina and was cared for with dignity and compassion in his last year of life at this facility. Staff took the time to get to know Carman and treated him with the utmost respect. He connected with so many there, took part in activities and enjoyed his days. Thank you to the staff of the Veteran’s Unit (3-5). We appreciate all of your work with and dedication to Carman. Carman was predeceased by his wife Gertrude, his parents, sister, brother in-law and son Ron. He is survived by his brother Albert (Irene), numerous nieces and nephews from both sides of the family and his four surviving children and their families; Ralph (Carol), Nancy (Guy), Gerard (Marg), Carol (Rick); twelve grandchildren, Gary, Patti, Bobby, Jeremy, Nicole, Natalie, Jackie, Erica, Mike, Joelle, Jason and Jenny; eight great grandchildren, Desha, Chloe, Alyssa, Kyle, Rilyn, Taelyn, Brody and Brooklyn. A Celebration of Carman’s Life will take place at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Friends and family so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to Wascana Rehab Centre, 2180 – 23rd Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4S 0A5.
