HANEY: LaVerne Haney passed away peacefully on March 29th, 2012 at the South East Integrated Health Care Centre in Moosomin, Sk. LaVerne was born on July 4th, 1916 to Manda and Cedric Reisinger. She was a year old when her mother passed away and she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Ole and Karen Kopperud. She grew up on the Kopperud farm in the Cadillac area and attended Boule Creek School, getting most of her grade 12. In 1940 she married Earl Haney of Spy Hill. They rented the Kopperud farm and later bought it.LaVerne was active in the community and was the church organist for many years, playing in both North and South Immanuel. In the early 1950's she taught school in Andersonville for two years. LaVerne's hands were always busy with sewing, quilting, knitting, crafts and she especially enjoyed gardening. She also loved company and always had the coffee on!In 1980 they sold the farm and moved into Swift Current. She was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the Lydia Circle. She continued with her many hobbies and was still gardening at the age of 94. She had great wit and humour and always had a joke to tell.In November 2011 she moved to Moosomin to live with her daughter until the time of her passing. She was predeceased by her husband Earl, infant grandson Joel Meister, infant great granddaughter Kassandra Meister, parents, grandparents and several aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters in law, brothers in law and nephews. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Sandra (Harry) Meister of Moosomin. Grandchildren Trevor (Kathryn) Meister of Morinville AB, Tammy (Ray) Zimmer of Daysland AB, and Marcy (Ryan) Rowan of Elkhorn MB. 12 Great Grandchildren: Matthew, Joshua and Zachary Meister; Joel, Josephine, Emma, Grace, Ethan and Leah Zimmer; Chelsea, Caitlin and Kenny Rowan, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. LaVerne was a very resourceful, determined, fun loving woman whose enduring faith was an example to us all. Friends wishing to make a donation may do so to the St. Olaf Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
