After a long and courageous battle, Gerard passed peacefully at home, into the arms of his loving God while surrounded by many of his loving family members and cherished family friends. Gerard embraced his battle by facing each new challenge with a practical assessment, planning, implementation and spiritual guidance from his great faith. He gained his inner strength from the love and support of his family which allowed him to never give up.
Gerard was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada to Josephine (Trainor) and Joseph Tierney, on May 5, 1956. Growing up on the family farm on The Colville Road gave Gerard a solid upbringing and a wonderful start to a great life.
Gerard is survived by his loving wife, Moira (McCarroll), his cherished children, Aaron, Bradley, Maeghan (Seth) Tipton, and Sarah, as well as their mother Victoria (Brown) Tierney. His step children Maegan (Dan) Tremblay (Loving Grampie Gerard to Kobey and Jack), Heather, Miranda and Krystal Casson. He is also survived by his beloved mother Josephine, his sister Theresa (Frank) Hughes, brothers Frank (Susan) of Calgary, David, Leo and Maurice (Lorna). Gerard was predeceased by his father Joseph Tierney in 2011.
Gerard graduated from Charlottetown Rural High School and Holland College before entering a career with Nortel. While with Nortel, Gerard enjoyed working in Charlottetown, Calgary, St. Johns, Brampton and lastly Dallas. A kind and caring Leader, Gerry, supported his co-workers through the Nortel/Ericsson transition.
A kind and loving husband and father, Gerard shared his faith and passion for the Church with his family, but his greatest gift was helping them see and feel the significance of how a loving family can enrich their lives. Gerard was looking forward to summer of this year when his first Grandchild, Wyatt, will join his loving family.
Predictable to the Tierney “T”, Gerard will always be remembered as a quiet, kind man who spoke volumes with a few words.
Remains entrusted to Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, McKinney Texas – www.TJMfuneral.com. Memorial in Prince Edward Island at a later date, details to follow.
