It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our brother Fred, on March 15, 2012.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret ‘Maggie’ McLellan.
In his early years, Fred worked in No. 16 mine. In 1962, he followed many of his friends and moved to Toronto. He worked for 36 years for Domtar. A dedicated worker, Fred never missed a day, retiring at the age of 65.
When his health deteriorated, he moved into a nursing home, Casa Verde, where he quickly made many friends. A special thank you is sent to the doctors, nurses and staff of Casa Verde for their care and many acts of kindness to Fred.
He will be missed by his many friends at work and in the Roncesvalles area.
Fred is survived by his sisters, Dolores (Bill) O’Neill, Toronto, and Theresa Corbett, New Waterford; brothers, John (Lorraine), Leonard (Judy), both of Lingan, Dan Hughie (Diane), River Ryan; also many nieces and nephews in Toronto and New Waterford.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Marie, Donkin, brothers, Gordie and Joey.
At his request, cremation has taken place under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
Burial with his parents will take place at Saint Agnes Cemetery, New Waterford, N.S., at a later date.
