SLATER, WILLIAM - William “Bill” Slater, 64, of Shediac, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, April 22, 2012 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Moncton, Bill was the son of George and Letitia “Tish” (Jardine) Slater. Bill was the General Manager of Westmorland Albert Solid Waste Corporation (20 years) and formerly employed with H.E. Carson and Sons (over 25 years). Bill was passionate about his work and enjoyed sharing his experiences and talents with others. He was very loyal and extremely dedicated, as many can attest to. He was a member of St. Martin's-in-the-Woods Anglican Church, Shediac and was a former Commodore at the Shediac Marina & Yacht Club. Bill loved his cars, helping people out and spending time with his friends; but first and foremost, he loved his family, his pets and his home on the water. In addition to his parents, Bill will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 43 years, Sheryl “Sherry” (Robinson); loving father to Darren (Barb) of Moncton and Kristy Smith (Shane) of Tamworth, ON; proud grampy to Avery Smith, Robyn Slater, Ryan Smith, Keegan Slater and Jayden Smith ; brother, Glenn Slater (Dina) of Moncton; sisters, Debbie Sherwood (Rick) of Moncton and Barb Russell (John) of Taymouth; son-in-law to Ben and Bea Robinson of Shediac; sisters-in-law, Susan Duquette (Danny) and Jacki Robinson (late Benji), both of Moncton. He will be sadly missed by his many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Heidi James and her team of doctors at The Moncton Hospital and to nurse Donna of Extra Mural, Shediac and to the many wonderful angels we were blessed with. Also, to the nurses and staff of The Moncton Hospital who provided such wonderful care.

Funeral Service at St. Martin’s-in-the-Woods Anglican Church, Shediac on Friday April 27, 2012 at 2:00 pm, the Venerable Richard McConnell officiating. Reception following the service.
