Fred Doucette passed away April 9, 2012, at home as he wished, after having a very long battle with cancer. A couple of times we thought he'd won. He put up a seven-year fight, but unfortunately we lost one of the sweetest gentlemen there ever was. Born in Waterford, Oct. 29, 1935. He was friends with Stompin' Tom. His parents were Mary ("Meme") and Pat Doucette of Tignish. He was the youngest of five children: Gertie Cahill, Becky Reid, his sisters in St. Catharines, Lester and Raymond Doucette, both deceased brothers, all born in Waterford. He leaves to mourn his wife Joan Turner, daughter Paula Doucette, and grandson John Doucette, all of St. Catharines, Ont. Predeceased by a son Patrick Doucette, who died a year ago when he fell off a roof while working. Many cousins in Skinners Pond and Tignish, nieces and nephews, many dear friends and one aunt Frances Handrahan of St. Felix (his mother's sister) all will sadly miss him. We loved him more than he will ever know. His burial took place in St. Catharines April 13, 2012. Now he is in God's loving arms.
